[00:00:56] Speaker B: Welcome to the Tea With Bri. I'm your host, Bri. Thanks for listening. The Tea with Bree podcast is focused on deep, honest and vulnerable conversation. Each week I sit down with a different guest in order to have those conversations.
Every week we'll start in my guest's bio, an intro into how we know each other, and then we'll go into a deep dive conversation about whatever topic they brought to me that week.
Welcome back. This is an episode of Breeze Tea, which is my version of the solo episode where I share some personal updates, answer questions. Speaking of, you can send Questions to the te withbreemail.com offer advice and much more. It has been a minute.
[00:01:32] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:01:32] Speaker B: Haven't recorded in a long time because I didn't know what I wanted to say. Then I had a very busy summer and life has just been lifing and so I have some really exciting guests coming up and I figured I couldn't just jump right back in with a new season question mark if I didn't give updates.
If you happen to hear a small voice behind me or see a tiny human, it is my nephew who has insisted on sitting in on this recording. So just wanted to start that housekeeping before we jump in.
Haven't really released an episode since February because life has been busy. As I mentioned, this summer was spent mostly working and traveling.
Did some travel to New Orleans with one of my best friends, Shelby. Then we went to Chicago and then I went to Chicago again in September.
I'm going to New Orleans at the end of this year for a wedding. So just really been enjoying life.
I've gone to Chicago three times in the last year and it's really, really warmed my heart. I really love spending time there. I have a bunch of friends who live there and I was hearing from folks, if you like New York, you love Chicago and so obviously I love Chicago and it is a place I could really see myself going. So stay tuned. That might be a move in the Next couple of years there still at the same job.
I had a really big fundraiser a month ago that went very well. So that's really exciting.
And then I've been doing a lot of side projects lately.
I won a scholarship through Club Pilates New Haven to become a Pilates instructor.
Full comprehensive training. So it's about 450 hours and I'll be trained in all the styles of Pilates. That's Mat reformer, Chair Cadillac. So there's just a lot of training that happens there.
Won their DEI scholarship. So it's really exciting because it is very pricey to become a Pilates instructor. So excited for that and what that would look like in the future.
And then I started this side business which is more of a passion project right now called Lucky 17 Collective where I work with business, local businesses, both small and large and influencers in Connecticut. I, since moving back have seen that there's a really big influencer market and really great influencers doing a lot of great work. So trying to bridge the influencer marketing with businesses who could use the advertising.
Right now my only client is two of my best friends are starting a Pilates studio right here in my hometown of Hamden called Rebel Form Shout out to Rebecca and Janelle. So been running their social media for them for the last couple of weeks, almost a month now. And so they open in November, so we are about two weeks from them opening. Very proud of them. They'll probably come on the podcast later this year to just talk about opening a business specifically with your friends. Their husbands have been helping them get this off the ground. A lot of support from family and friends. So yeah, I'll link Lucky17 so you can see what my other brainchild has been.
And then politics. I've just been really paying attention to a lot of politics yet lately. We have an election coming up, so please vote.
Make sure you're registered. Vote.
And so in the next couple of weeks, my friend KB is back and we talk briefly about Texas politics specifically and us both being black queer people who have left Texas but still love the people of Texas and you know, our, our viewpoint on the, on the election happening out of there. So yeah, those are like probably the, the big ones.
I also feel compelled to share that I am seeing someone. I've talked about them before on this podcast and yeah, we're, we're going strong and I think that's all I want to share for now. I think they're great. I love them very much and yeah, so gonna leave you with that.
The Stay tuned. We have Jamila Moore as my first guest coming up later this week. That episode was recorded back in July. We're talking about her book that she's writing.
I had the honor of reading her prologue, and I'm so excited for that to be released. We talk about being a black queer woman.
We talk about her book. We talk about representation in media.
So, yeah, stay tuned for that. As you know, at the end of every episode, I end with a question.
I've changed it from the minisode and I've made it. What is the best advice I've gotten this week? Or what's a piece of advice I would give to someone who's struggling? And I have a number of friends who are dealing with breakups or navigating romance, and I think some advice I've given them this week has been like, don't forget your own magic. I think sometimes we can get so caught up in, like, pursuing someone else and, and seeing their magic that we tend to forget our own.
So I just think that's an important thing of, like, don't forget to remember that you're also magical and special in all the things. And so, yeah, I think that's it. That's it. For this week's episode of the Tea with Bri, be sure to follow the podcast on Instagram hea with Bri. Send me an
